Quite honestly, I am usually not the type of person who likes to count calories but, I know many others that do track their calorie intake per day… In the long run I am a firm believer that a healthy & well – balanced lifestyle is the only way to actually achieve or maintain any kind of body goal. BUT, no doubt it is also proven that in order to lose weight, you need to eat fewer calories than you burn. However, lets be honest – reducing the amount of food we eat can be very difficult sometimes…
So in order to NOT starve myself and still eat what I love, I gained some vital habits over the years that naturally keep me saving lots of calories per day.
Today I’d love to share my 9 simple but highly effective ways to cut calories and to help loosing weight!
1.Don’t skip breakfast.
How many of you actually skip their breakfast in the morning and rush to work?! Raise your hands if you do! COME ON … To me there is nothing more important than a nutrient rich breakfast in the am. THE most effective way to prevent yourself from cravings during the day – have a proper meal when you get up. I always make sure to either drink a filling smoothie, a healthy açaí bowl, a gluten-free avocado toast or any kind of other healthy kick start breakfast that I come up with that day.
2.Serve on small plates.
Sounds weird, but this one is very effective! The bigger the plate the more you’ll top! Take a small plate or bowl and only serve small portions. Try it out for yourself… sometimes the only reason we overeat – bc the portion is way to big!
3.Don’t add sugar.
A no brainer for me and I’m sure for many others too, but yet again important to mention! NO ADDED SUGAAAAAAAA!!!!! The fastest way of lowering your calorie intake per day – don’t use any extra sugar. Not even in your coffee!
4.Cook your own food.
Prepping your own food is such a game changer when it comes to calories. You are the master of your meal and don’t want any unnecessary ingredients in your breakfast/lunch or dinner. Many of the meals you eat outside are filled with all kinds of things; such as sugar, thickener, lactose or wheat. NAH, we don’t want that!!!! So instead of going the easy road by eating outside, always make sure to prep food before leaving the house, cos you know what YOU put inside.
5. Eat slow!!!
Probably my most favorite advice on saving kcals !!! EAT slowly!!! When you’d ask my friends who’s the slowest eating person on the entire planet – they would immediately say my name HAHAHAHA! TRUE story, they would ALL tell you how annoyed they are sometimes on HOW SLOW I EAT! But here is the thing, slow eating it is one of the things that I do naturally and I’ll tell you why…
- I noticed whenever I eat fast my stomach gets super upset. Taking the time to actually chew on every bite rather than to gobble it down is soooo important!
- Our bodies usually need about 20 minutes to get a signal of being full, plus throughout the intense chewing our digestive system is innervated and therefore also our metabolism.
- And last but not least, taking your time with a meal and chewing slowly may help you feel full more quickly, which obviously can help you eat less.
6.Don’t keep junk food in the house.
Yes you see me eating lots of treats on my IG story and I can’t deny that I love any kind of sweets or even junk food. But here is one thing that needs to be mentioned!!! I usually don’t have any kind of junk food/treats at home. When I truly crave chocolate I go out and buy it THAT day, therefore you actually think twice if you really need/want it! If you keep junk food or sweets within easy reach, its much easier to unconsciously grab n’ eat it especially when you are stressed or bored.
7. Eat mini versions of desserts.
I’m the first one in for an awesome dessert and what I am about to tell you is also very hard for me sometimes 😉 But I do know that it works! Small desserts, or mini versions. Instead of that big 500ml ice cream pint, choose the small one. Instead of eating that whole piece of cake by yourself – share it with a friend!
8.Take it home with you.
If you do eat out, – which we all love to do, right?! Try to listen to your body. Once your full STOP EATING and rather ask the waiter to box it for you, so you can take it home!
9. Get enough sleep.
If you’re trying to cut calories and lose weight, make sure you consistently get a good night’s sleep. Sleepless people are more likely to be over all hungrier and usually eat more calories… So instead of eating a late night snack – try jumping right to bed an hour earlier and skip those extra calorieeeees!

Hallo Liebes,
Also nochmal lieben Dank an meine liebste Zuckerschnute :-*
