Coachella is taking over April and everyone’s Instagram feeds lately. Just like every year – between weekend one and weekend two of the festival in Palm Springs, people go all crazy about it. But what’s the actual hype behind hit? Originally Coachella was created as an music and arts festival featuring musical artists of many genres of music, – rock, pop, indie, hip hop and electric dance music. The line-ups are usually pretty great – from well known artists like Rihanna, Kanye West, Beyonce to name a few – till ones that are new upcoming rising stars or pretty unknown musicians. Coachella has been a huge thing for many in the music industry. While I personally always loved the vibe, the music, and the boho inspired looks – Coachella has changed a lot over the past 10 years I’ve been living here in California on and off…
If you are following me for a while now, you know by now that I speak my mind – ALWAYS and that I find it very important to give you guys MY honest opinion on things. Whether if its beauty related, fashion related, politically, or in this case Coachella related… I don’t want to make it sound very dramatic on here, or give you a hatred kind of feeling (you know that I always focus on seeing the positive and making the best out of every situation), but I do have my strong opinion on in and want you guys to get my honest insights on Coachella, even though I know some will may disagree or find it not very pleasing… This is just my truth!
For many it might be the coolest festival ever (I know a lot of people who are returning every year and who literally can’t wait for April and Coachella to start again.) All you get to see on the internet is crazy good looking people, flaunting their model bodies in front of the famous giant Coachella wheel, having the time of their lives, enjoying the music and the festival sooooo very much. Behind the scenes it sure looks a little different though… please don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to generally put it down here (again, the opinions on that specific topic vary to whomever you speak to – some love it, some used to love it, and some hate it.) I can only speak for myself and the things I noticed over the past years. If you really pay close attention and don’t shut your eyes on whats truly going on – Coachella it just not so much about the music anymore and people are not enjoying it the way they used to – meaning they come for the actual music and the vibe. Nowadays, it sure is all about getting the RIGHT Instagram picture – stating that you are having a blast, if you are not paying a lot of money you don’t even get into certain areas of the festival, it is all about to see and to be seen, who you might gonna bump into or can make a connection with (celebrities or business related), huuuuuuug crowds of people that make you feel uncomfortable and lastly it is about drugs. Drugs are unfortunately a huge thing and something I will NEVER EVER support! Truth to be told – 85% of the people there, are on something, – alcohol related, or any kind of other drug you can imagine. If you don’t look close enough you won’t even recognize it, bc everyone is just having a great time right?!! Generally speaking if you are with a group of friends that you trust, you can for sure enjoy a good time at Coachella, BUT everything I just mentioned above is still happening!!!! Besides the tremendous cost per ticket: – starting from 600$ up to 1500$, THE MUSIC – the one point it was all about – actually became SECONDARY. Coachella to me lost its greatness! Easy as that!!! Not to mention that since blogging is a thing, – many fellow blogger colleagues simply trying to get the most paid jobs there, – hustling is great and I appreciate everyone going for work and creating and doing stuff – but again Coachella used to be a festival that everyone just enjoyed! Taking pictures as a memory for an amazing time, not as paid collabs, to gain followers and numbers etc etc. … the list is long!
I really want you to get an over all picture here and that Coachella became a lifestyle kinda thing which I just don’t like… As it is with everything, I believe everyone has to make their own experiences. As it is for me: NO – CHELLA anymore.
I rather enjoyed an almost empty LA with my friends (while everyone is going crazy in Palm Springs) and created this boho – inspired look for you guys!
