[ANZEIGE/AD] When we think about beauty and how we can maintain glowing skin, strong and shiny hair & nails, we often only think about great skincare – but we seem to forget that it actually all starts within. Beauty comes from the inside out, deeply rooted on the inside it is seen on our outer appearance. Therefore, besides nourishing our mind and soul with fueling energy and positive vibes, it is essential for us to support our systems with healthy, nutrient rich food as a means of promoting body & skin health.
Beau·ty ▻ /ˈbjuː.ti/; – deeply rooted on the inside, – natural beauty comes from the inside out.
As I’ve always been very conscious about on what I eat (especially as I get older and healthy aging is a huge thing for me) it became more and more important to me what I put into my body.
If you’ve been following me for a while now you know already, that my number one go-to all rounder are almonds. In any way possible, – but especially as a nutritious snack in between. In one of my previous posts “California Almonds – everything you need to know about the miracle nut” (if you haven’t read it yet – you can read it here) I already talked about the origin of almonds, their amazing health facts and my unforgettable trip to California, – where I learned everything about how almonds are responsibly grown. Today, I want to tell you more about how these delicious crunchy nuts are THE perfect addition to your daily skincare routine and why they can help you to shine from the inside out.

To remind you of some amazing facts, a handful of almonds (approx. 23 almonds or 28g) has 160 calories, ladies, and almonds provide you with two B vitamins (niacin and riboflavin) and zinc, all of which contribute to the maintenance of skin. They are also rich in vitamin E which may help to protect cells from oxidative stress caused by pollution, UV rays from the sun and other environmental factors. And did you know that one handful of almonds contains 60% of your daily recommended amount of Vitamin E?

The university of California just published a new pilot study, funded by the Almond Board of California, which investigated the effects of daily almonds consumption on facial wrinkles. I mean… wait WHAT?! Yes, you heard it right – new research using high-resolution imaging shows improved measures of wrinkle width and severity in postmenopausal women who ate almonds as a daily snack. In this 16-week randomized controlled trial, 28 healthy postmenopausal women with Fitzpatrick skin type 1 or 2 (characterized by increased tendency to burn with sun exposure) were randomly assigned to one of two groups. In the intervention group, women ate almonds as a snack, which accounted for 20% of their total daily calorie intake, or 340 calories per day on average (about 2 x 28g portions.). The control group ate a nut-free snack that also accounted for 20% of calories: a cereal bar, granola bar or pretzels. Aside from these snacks, study participants ate their regular diets and did not eat any nuts or nut-containing products…

By the end of the study at 16 weeks, photographic image analysis showed statistically significant improvements for participants in the almond snack group compared to the control group. ↓
・Wrinkle width decreased by 10%
・Wrinkle severity decreased by 9%
WOW, just think about it for a second… This is absolutely incredible!!! Only 16 weeks to a better looking outer appearance. This research is still in its infancy so early days yet, but just imagine what almonds could do for your skin after years of daily consumption.
I can just personally say since I found out about the study, anti-aging has taken on a whole different meaning for me. Almonds can contribute to maintaining my skin health by eating them as a healthy snack – HOW AMAZING IS THAT!?! I’ve always been including almonds in my diet, but it became an even more indispensable ritual for me to eat my daily dose of 28g “natural glow” now. As easy as I put my facial crème, makeup and highlighter on, – ALMONDS are the secret to get that inner glow.

So, if you are not already on the almond train – do yourself a favor and hop on as fast as you can girls. Simply, –Snack & Glow.
